Let’s begin with a new series, i.e. Planets through Nakshatras.

The first one today, Sun in Ashwini Nakshaktra.

Let’s look at important things here –

Sun - Sun represents Personality, King, Government, Father, Authority, Career, Top Positions, Ego, Self Esteem, Health, Education etc.

Ashwini – Ashwini is 1^st nakshatra, so it comes with the nature of pro-activeness and be first everytime. It is also nakshatra of Healers or Doctors as its deity is Ashwini Kumars, the metaphysical healers. It is also nakshatra of illusion, cheating and confusion. Aries – As Ashwini is part of Aries, Aries sign and its representations become important here. Aries is the 1st sign of zodiac belt, so it represents the things and energy of 1st house of horoscope like Self, Personality etc. Besides that, Aries is the sign of our individuality, our aggression, our actions, our competitive ability etc. Aries is ruled by Mars and it is consisted of 2 and half Nakshatras named Ashwini, Bharani and Krittika.

Mars – As Mars rules Aries, Mars’ position and dignity is important to know about the overall functioning of any planet in Aries.

Ketu – Likewise as Ketu rules Ashwini, Ketu’s position and dignity is important to know about the overall functioning of any planet in Ashwini

Houses Involved – Also, we can’t afford to forget the houses involved as a planet can be ruling different houses and sitting in different house for every person as per ascendant and planet’s position. To know overall affect, we have to consider the houses involved as those areas of life are being impacted.

Interpretation of Sun in Ashwini Nakshatra – Now, when Sun is in Ashwini Nakshatra, the first good news is that it is exalted here. Sun is exalted at 10 degrees of Aries which falls in Ashwini Nakshatra. So, the closer Sun is towards 10 degrees mark, the stronger it is. As Sun is exalted, they are seen a super-confident people. As Sun represents Career, they want to reach highest peaks in their career. They may not be happy with mediocre success in whichever field they are. As Sun is exalted here, they can have very clear sense of their career path from very early in life. Father becomes the biggest support for them. As Ashwini is nakshatra of Healers & Doctors, they can very well make their career in medical field. As Sun represents Govt and it is at its highest dignity in Ashwini, they can be working for Govt or they can be in such high position in their field that Govt benefits naturally come to them. Basically, they will be leader in whichever field they go. The house Sun rules and house Sun sits in, will decide the area of life they can become leaders. At the same time, as illusion is involved with Ketu and Ashwini, they can show up a very different side to public in comparision to what they really are. Now, as good as it looks for career and authority, it can be equally troublesome position in relationship matters if Sun is ruling or sitting in relationship oriented houses. It is because Sun is Ego and Exalted Sun means Exalted Ego. So, if Sun is ruling or sitting in relationship oriented houses or Sun is darakaraka, then they can project that ego on their partner and their relationship can spoil as ego and relationship can’t stand together. Finally, as Ashwini is ruled by Ketu which represents past-life karma, Sun in Ashwini shows that person can have past life karma towards father or the people represented by the house Sun rules.

Role of Mars – And here things become very important. Sun remains in Aries for 30 days and in Ashwini for about 13.5 days. Many children will take birth in world during this time. They all can’t have similar life path. This is where position of Aries lord Mars becomes important. 

Two examples I can give here is charts of 

Sachin Tendulkar (https://www.astrosaxena.com/stendulkar) and 

Rev Jim Jones (https://www.astrosaxena.com/jonestown). 

They both were born with Sun in Aries but Sachin Tendulkar had Mars exalted and Rev Jim Jones had Mars debilitated. So, Sachin became true leader in his field and Rev Jim Jones could manage to have a fake image of spiritual leader.

Role of Ketu – Likewise, Ketu’s position will become important in functioning and results of Sun in Ashwini. If Ketu is with Saturn or other malefic like Mars or creating some negative yoga then results of Sun in Ashwini can be reduced. Even if Ketu is with Sun in Ashwini then also it means that person is born near solar eclipse and results of Sun in Ashwini will be reduced. The good thing in Sachin’s chart was that Ketu was alone in Mercury ruled sign Gemini, where it is considered good, and in 11^th house of achievements and R&R. Also, Ketu didn’t get any malefic aspect of any other planet.

Other Factors – And of course, we need to consider conjunction, aspects, house lordship, house position and dashas etc to know the exact results of Sun in Ashwini. Like, Sachin’s chart is best example to know how Sun in Ashwini at 10 degree still didn’t help him in his role as Captain although he was seen as a great guide and teacher to new-comers. For him, Sun is in 9^th house of Teachers and Gurus. So, he became leader in a mentorship role in Indian Cricket whereas he had Saturn in 10^th house/Taurus of Authorities, a house which we can connect with a Team Captain. So, he had tough time in asserting himself as a successful Captain. Also, 9^th house is 12^th from 10^th house. So, it represents loss of authoritative positions. Hence, although Sun was exalted at exact 10 degree Ashwini but still as it was in 9^th house of Teachers, his authority was in roles like Mentors/Guide rather than in roles like Captain.

Conclusion – So, this is how I see Sun in Ashwini can work in a chart.
