Connecting the Dots?
## The Illusion of "Connecting the Dots": Astrology, Awareness, and Human Consciousness
Recently, one of my students, Mansha Mishra [AstroMansha] ( https://www.youtube.com/@AstroMansha ), asked for my astrological perspective on the recent wave of chaotic global events, accidents, and crashes. I shared my thoughts in our WhatsApp group, basing my views primarily on the recent and ongoing difficult transits of Mars in Gemini/Cancer—which I detailed in my articles on Mars Direct and Retrograde Transits in Gemini and Cancer ( https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/MarsDirectandRetrogradeTransitsinGeminiandCancerin2024-25 ) and Mars Transit in Cancer ( https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/MarsTransitinCancer2024-25 )—as well as its transit through Leo Transit of Mars in Leo ( https://astrosaxena.com/articles/TransitofMarsinLeoin2025 ). I felt this information would be valuable for all my students, which is why I posted it.
However, a few responses in the group highlighted a common skepticism. The feedback essentially suggested that, without prior specificity, explaining events after they happen looks like easily "connecting the dots." It also brought up a universal confusion: if planetary transits are the same for everyone, why isn't everyone experiencing the same destructive events? Another response stated that predicting events is simply not humanly possible. Because there is a widespread desire for clarity on why precise events happen to some and not to others, I preferred to address these views comprehensively through this article.
On the surface, these objections seem valid, and another astrologer might dive into deep research to answer them. But for someone like me, who places immense emphasis on the **Gunas of Nature (Tamas, Rajas, and Satva)** and how human consciousness operates through them, the resurfacing of these doubts was a surprise. I have written and taught so much about the Gunas over the last few years that I didn’t expect to write about them all over again—but I guess we love to surprise each other.
Because addressing this thoroughly requires a detailed breakdown that applies to the public at large, a WhatsApp group response wasn't feasible. A proper article is a much better medium.

## The Reality of Predicting Events
First, let me establish the point on which I completely agree: **the perfect prediction of events is not humanly possible.**
I have asserted this repeatedly in my posts, articles, and through the quotes of Osho. In fact, I state this clearly as a disclaimer on my consultation page - Important Information on Consultation Services( https://www.astrosaxena.in/services/info/48/must-read--important-information-on-consultationservices ): I do not provide flawless, absolute predictions.
The reason is simple: **Human consciousness is always evolving.** Because of this constant evolution, it is impossible to know exactly what level of consciousness a person is functioning from at any given moment to make an absolute, rigid prediction.
### Retrospect vs. Prospect
To understand the rest of the dilemma, we must look at the timing of the question:
* **Analysis in Retrospect:** The initial question about these chaotic events was asked *after* they had already occurred. My analysis was naturally based on the knowledge that the event was a done deal; nothing could be done to reverse it.
* **Analysis in Prospect:** The approach would be entirely different if someone asked about the *future possibility* of an event before it happened.
When a question is asked in retrospect, how can the analysis be delivered as a prospective prediction?
> Consider this parallel: Arjuna is in deep grief *before* the Mahabharata war. The guidance for him is to adopt a state of witnessing and become a "non-doer." On the other hand, King Ashoka is struck by grief *after* the Kalinga war. The guidance for him is Sannyas (renunciation). The timing of the realization changes the remedy entirely.

## The Dilemma of the Human Mind
The core issue lies with the human mind, which fundamentally resists waking up—either before or after an event occurs.
Way back in mid-2023, I began posting warnings about the Mars transit in Gemini/Cancer arriving in August 2024, emphasizing the care and heightened awareness required to navigate it safely. At that time, the feedback and comments I received were defensive:
* *"You are spreading fear and negativity."*
* *"You are incurring bad karma by scaring people."*
* *"Don't scare us; we will deal with it when it happens."*
* *"Who changes their actual life plans just because of a single transit?"*
Yet, when the difficult transit unfolds and I post an analysis of its destructive results, the narrative shifts to: *"Oh, this is just connecting the dots after the event; anyone can do that."*
What if I tell you right now that the next retrograde transit of Mars will once again involve the sign of Cancer from **December 2026 to May 2027**? I am certain that 90% of people will react the same way: *"Why are you spreading fear so far in advance? We will see when the time comes."*
In my years as an astrologer, I have noticed a distinct pattern: **the very people who refuse to listen to a warning out of fear are the exact same people who later complain, *"If someone had just warned us beforehand, we would have acted differently."***
Essentially, the unconscious mind is begging: *Please don't wake me up, neither before the event nor after it.*
During the past year, I actively advised many individuals to delay marriages, business launches, and major life changes due to this volatile Mars transit. Many chose not to listen. Now that they are suffering the consequences of those choices and asking for explanations, my explanation linking their suffering to the Mars transit is dismissed as merely "connecting the dots."

## What are We Missing? The Element of Choice
To understand why this happens, we must look at how an event is formed:
```
Before the Event: Planets + Chart + Dasha + Transit + Human Consciousness (Choices are wide open)
After the Event: Planets + Chart + Dasha + Transit (Consciousness is exhausted; only results remain)
```
Before an event takes place, a prediction or warning serves as a guide for what we *should* do. Alongside the planets, charts, dashas, and transits, the most crucial variable is **human consciousness**. A true astrologer tries to steer a person's consciousness away from destructive tendencies and toward creative or peaceful possibilities. At this stage, all paths are open; an individual can choose to operate through a **Tamasic, Rajasic, or Satvic** window. Consciousness holds the key because it retains the freedom of choice.
However, when an analysis is requested *after* actions have been taken and the disaster has occurred, the variable of human consciousness is already exhausted. The individual has already made their choice through one of the Gunas, and all other alternatives are gone. The results are bound to follow. At that stage, an astrologer has no choice but to "connect the dots," because the creative power of human consciousness has already been spent.

## Why Doesn't a Transit Affect Everyone Equally?
This brings us to the question: *If a transit is identical for everyone, why doesn't everyone suffer the same fate?*
It is because every individual stands at a different level of the Gunas and exercises choices based on their unique level of awareness. Thankfully, humanity is not collectively functioning at the level of a Ted Bundy or an Adolf Hitler.
* **The Aware Mind:** Utilizes highly volatile planetary transits for creative, intense pursuits.
* **The Sleepy Mind:** Channels the exact same planetary energies into destructive, chaotic actions.
### Historical Examples of Awareness vs. Neglect
* **The 9/11 Attacks:** Historical records show that the US Government received intelligence warnings from the CIA regarding potential attacks as early as 1998. People in power chose to turn a blind eye, and the tragic result was [September 11 Attacks]( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_intelligence_before_the_attacks ).
* **The 1993 Bombay Bomb Blasts:** It is well-documented that the police received concrete information about the impending tragedy at least three days prior. It was dismissed as a "joke," leading to the devastating [1993 Bombay Bombings]( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Bombay_bombings ).
* **The 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy:** Local journalist Shri Rajkumar Keshwani repeatedly tried to warn the public and the government about the impending industrial disaster. No one paid attention, resulting in the catastrophic [Bhopal Disaster]( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster ).
The events of 9/11 perfectly illustrate the power of consciousness. Four airplanes were hijacked that morning. The passengers on three of those flights were completely unaware of the hijackers' true suicide attack intentions, likely assuming it was a standard hijacking with political demands. The attackers successfully hit their targets.
However, on **United Airlines Flight 93**, the passengers managed to obtain information about the previous attacks. That sudden surge of awareness changed everything. They revolted and force-crashed the plane into an empty field, averting a strike on the nation's capital.
Similarly, during the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Rajkumar Keshwani and a few others who remained aware of the safety protocols survived the leak. Those who ignored the warnings suffered immensely.
Was the difference down to planets, charts, or transits? **No. The transits were identical** for all four flights on 9/11, just as they were identical for the entire city of Bhopal on that fateful night. What changed the destiny of Flight 93 or Keshwani's circle was pure **awareness**. As Osho beautifully states: *Once you become conscious, you can never be the same person again.*
Because we are all walking different paths of awareness during the exact same planetary movements, we experience vastly different outcomes.

## Consciousness in Practice
From August 2024 to June 2025, recognizing the volatile nature of the Mars transit, I drastically scaled back my social interactions. This conscious choice minimized opportunities for conflict and disagreement. I avoided making travel plans and canceled the ones already in motion. Years ago, during a previous Mars retrograde transit, I chose not to drive for six entire months.
To an outside observer, these choices might look like actions rooted in fear. To me, they were actions rooted in **awareness**. If a person is suffering deeply under a difficult transit, it is highly likely they are making **Tamasic choices** during a time that demands extreme caution.
During the recent Mars transit in Gemini/Cancer, the individuals who chose to remain conscious channeled the high-intensity energy into positive focuses. While nations have been actively bombing each other over the past year, many athletes channeled that exact same aggressive planetary energy into competing and winning medals at the Olympics.
### The Role of Corporate and Collective Awareness
Why isn't the current Mars-Ketu transit in Leo bringing fire accidents and crashes to absolutely everyone? Again, because those who are responsible and aware are managing the transit constructively.
When an aircraft crashes, we have to face the hard truth that the individuals responsible for its safety were functioning out of unawareness regarding its maintenance; **Tamas led to destruction**. With a little more vigilance, these tragedies are entirely preventable. Fortunately, the people managing other aircraft are operating with higher awareness.
Consider these two contrasting, real-time news updates:
1. One report highlights negligence: [Air India Plane Dreamliner Check Overdue Months Before Crash]( https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/air-india-plane-boeing-787-8-dreamliners-comprehensive-check-was-due-in-december-months-before-crash-officials-8673028?pfrom=home-ndtv_topstories ).
2. The other highlights active awareness averting disaster: [How ISRO's Intervention Averted a Fatal Rocket Disaster]( https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/crack-on-astronaut-shubhanshu-shuklas-rocket-how-isros-intervention-averted-fatal-disaster-8667532?pfrom=home-ndtv_topscroll ).
Awareness is truly everything. We must factor human consciousness into any planetary interpretation. When destruction strikes, consciousness was eclipsed by Tamas. In discussions on the Gunas, astrologers diligently analyze planets, signs, houses, and nakshatras, yet conveniently leave out the most critical element: **the actual person and their level of consciousness handling those energies.**
A Mars-Ketu alignment in Leo can be an extraordinary force for deep, creative research—but it is highly destructive if used to project a blind, fragile ego. Perhaps people prefer to ignore the consciousness factor simply to escape accountability, maintaining the comforting illusion that they are already operating at the highest level of awareness and that any misfortune is entirely the planets' fault.

## Frequently Anticipated Questions
### 1. What is the fault of the innocent people who suffer in these mass tragedies?
Their collective mistake is allowing a Tamasic individual or group to hold absolute authority. The tragedy of the German population during World War II was allowing a highly Tamasic figure like Adolf Hitler to usurp total power. Surrendering your agency to Tamasic leadership is a sign of being collectively grounded in a Tamasic state. When the head of a household operates with a criminal mindset, the remaining family members inevitably suffer as long as that individual holds all the decision-making power.
If the world feels chaotic right now, it is because power sits heavily in the hands of Tamasic forces; society has decided that becoming a local politician is more alluring than reaching the consciousness of a Buddha. When a Tamasic entity makes the calls, the outcome will naturally be destructive for the collective. Through catastrophic events like the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Universe screams a profound lesson: *You cannot surrender ultimate power to Tamasic mindsets.*
### 2. How can we guarantee that everyone we depend on is operating with high consciousness?
We cannot. At an external level, our lives are deeply interdependent. I can cultivate and take responsibility for my own consciousness, but I have no control over the consciousness of another. Our sole responsibility is to act and think as consciously as possible in our individual lives.
Beyond that, the final result is out of our hands; it is the mathematical summation of countless actions and thoughts from the people around us impacting a shared reality. This is precisely where the law of Destiny and Fate steps in (read more on [Destiny]( https://astrosaxena.com/articles/Destiny )). Act with total awareness, and then accept the unfolding result as your destiny.

## Why Follow Astrology at All?
If predictions are not absolute because human consciousness is free to shift between the Gunas at any given moment, why do we study astrology?
**We study astrology to know our options.**
It exists so you don’t find yourself saying, *"I got into a massive fight and we broke each other’s heads because Mars was in Cancer today."* That exact same Mars represents a vast spectrum of profound, creative, and protective activities. Why didn't you choose to engage in those instead?
Astrology maps the weather, but consciousness decides whether you build a shelter or run blindly into the storm. It is vital to elevate your internal awareness within the time you have—otherwise, the only option left is to sit back and connect the dots after the damage is done.
I hope this brings the clarity you were seeking.
Gratitude!!!
